For girls, avoid pregnancy for up to one year after surgery.


Agree to a very strict diet following surgery.


Be of sound mind, able to make reasonable decisions.


Very important - must have an encouraging home environment.

If either the teen or the guardian(s) of the teen, do not fully understand all the risks for weight loss surgery.


If there's a medical treatment already available to fix the weight problem.


Any type of prior drug abuse.


Pregnant or planning to become pregnant within two years of the potential surgery.



Weight loss surgery for teens shouldn't even be considered unless all other methods of losing weight have been exhausted and only if the weight can pose a big health concern for the present and future. Surgery should be, in all cases, a last ditch effort in losing weight.

In either case, you are going to want to start with some basic puppy obedience even before those classes start. For example, you would want to teach your dog how to go to the bathroom outside and to correct some of the problems that can occur with puppies, such as chewing.

Once you are able to take the puppy to classes, you will find that the learning is quite accelerated. Understanding the basic obedience commands can make a dog a more welcome part of the family and can certainly make them pleasant to have around. You should also consider the fact that a well-trained dog is going to be a safe dog, as it will listen to your commands if danger is looming. 

Simply having your dog sit on command is going to have many benefits, not even to mention having them come on command or stay when told to do so.

As your dog begins to understand the basic obedience commands, you might consider the possibility of taking advanced classes. Those advanced classes are not simply for an animal that is undergoing a specific purpose, such as one that is going to be shown regularly. 

Advanced obedience classes can help you to develop more of a bond with your dog and can reinforce the basic obedience commands that were established early in their life.

There may also be times when the obedience classes that were given early in life were unsuccessful. Your dog may develop aggressive tendencies or perhaps may have problems, such as excessive barking or digging. 

When these problems occur, it's a good idea for you to contact a dog trainer that is going to give you specialized training and advice. By coming to your home and providing the training in your area, your dog will develop the characteristics that are desirable.

Today's weight loss market is flooded with weight loss supplements containing Hoodia Gordonii supplements and other such pills account for billions of dollars in sales annually. Widely reported on by the media, little proof of its effectiveness exists.


Hoodia Gordonii is a cactus like succulent, native only to the Kalahari Desert of South Africa. While on expedition in 1937, a group of researchers studying the native people of this region discovered their use of this succulent as an appetite suppressant. 

Clinical trials performed by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research of South Africa in 1997 showed that Hoodia Gordonii suppressed the appetite of lab animals. The trial also determined that there we no toxic effects when consuming this plant.

Since the discovery of this plant and its possible use as an appetite suppressant for weight loss, major news organizations have reported on Hoodia Gordonii. It wasn't long after this that the multi-billion dollar weight loss industry began to offer products with the Hoodia extract and purported it to be the next great weight loss supplement.

The P57 in Hoodia effectively alerts the brain that the stomach is full and no longer needs more food. The research conclude that P57 worked in much the same way that glucose does when it signals the brain that we are satiated and we no longer feel the need to eat.

The main compulsion for taking Hoodia weight loss supplements is to eat less and meal time and snack less between meals. Hoodia taken 45 minutes before a meal allows us to eat the same foods we have always eaten, yet feel satisfied eating less of them. Hoodia products that claim to work immediately should be avoided. Only eat once Hoodia has had an appropriate amount of time to take effect. Hoodia supplements work to assist you in your weight loss program. They are by no means a quick fix to your weight problems.

Keep in mind, nothing beats a good old fashion diet and exercise regimen. While taking Hoodia supplements alone may help you lose weight, a good program of diet and exercise will be much more effective.

As of yet, the FDA has not evaluated Hoodia Gordonii supplements for safety and effectiveness. There are no side effects associated with the use of Hoodia Gordonii but you should always seek the advice of a medical professional before taking any supplement. This is especially true of people with existing health problems, allergies to natural or artificial substances, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

What Can You Do To Lose Weight in a Week?


Let me make this clear right off the bat: you're not going to lose more than 3 to 8 pounds in in this time frame, unless maybe you're obese. So if you're looking to lose something like 10 or 20 pounds, you'd better be prepared for at least a few weeks or even months of dieting. What that said, here is what you can do to lose as much weight as possible in a week.

As this is quite a restrictive time frame we are working with, your best bet is to focus most of your efforts on getting rid of as much excess water as possible. To do that, you'll have to completely erase salt from your menu for that entire week. The sodium contained in salt leads to water retention, which is something you're definitely trying to avoid right now.

Make sure to consume a lot of watery vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers and brussels sprouts. Bananas are also a good idea. The reason for this is that all of these foods contain high amounts of Sodium, which substantially helps your body regulate water fluid levels. They also contain quite a bit of fiber, which will get your intestines working and help you lose even some more extra weight through the process of defecation.

On a side note, you should make sure you drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water per day. Contrary to what you might think, this will not elevate your water retention levels and will actually help reduce it!

The next thing I want you to do is to make sure that you jog lightly for around 30 to 40 minutes a day for the duration of that week. If you cannot jog for some reason, take a brisk walk. Other than helping you lose some extra fat and thereby reducing your weight, doing so will also force your body to get rid of any excess fluids it might be holding on to- you'll pee and sweat tons of it out.
You'll obviously also want to keep good track of how many calories you are consuming per day. If you don't do that, chances are you'll even gain weight if something goes really bad!







Simply use one of my other articles to calculate your daily calorie requirement, and do your best to eat approximately 1,000 calories below that for the duration of the week. Please be advised, however, that this kind of calorie deficit should not be sustained for longer than a week - doing so would be detrimental to your health and will cause you to lose a lot of muscle mass, as well as make you feel generally under the weather. For only one week though, it will be OK.

If you're wondering how much weight you can lose in a week if you follow everything I just said, I honestly don't know, and to be honest no one else will be able to tell you. The human body is an extremely complex organism, and one week is simply not enough of a time frame for anyone to be able to make any kind of predictions.

However, assuming that you haven't been on any diet for the past few months, and particularly if you are overweight or even obese, you can expect to lose a minimum of 3 pounds. 5 pounds would not be surprising at all, and 7 would be a good result.
If you lose 8 pounds or more, consider yourself lucky!
