How to Increase Your Body's Metabolism
How to Increase Your Body's Metabolism |
You must have heard people saying something about how fast or slow metabolic rates affect a person's weight. Simply put, the metabolic rate is the rate in which your body burns the calories that you ingest from the food that you eat.
There are no buts or ifs about the fact that if you eat more calories than you burn, you will not lose any weight and will in fact just make you put on more pounds, and probably all in the wrong places. Then the question is how to lose weight fast? In order to do this, there are certain things that you have to understand in order not to become frustrated and load on more pounds in the process. Some of these you can control and others you cannot.
• Heredity - the genes that you inherited have predetermined your metabolic rate.
• Gender - the males of the specie, generally, are able to burn off more calories faster than the females because they have more muscle tissues in their bodies.
• Age - the older you get, the slower your metabolic rate becomes.
• Medical condition - if you suffer from a thyroid disorder, an overactive one will make you lose weight fast while an underactive one will make you put on weight.
With these things in mind, is there anything that you can do to increase your metabolism and to lose weight fast?
People who want to lose weight fast often go on a starvation mode, thinking that if they do not load on any calories they will really lose weight. Depriving your body of what it needs to maintain it will only make it go on a survival mode. This will only slow down your metabolism and make your body store more calories in the form of fat to protect itself from starving. Malnutrition is never the solution to losing weight and in fact may even pose a health hazard, in the long run. Instead, you may wish to do the following to naturally boost your body's metabolism.
• Drink - Water and green tea, that is... The compounds in green tea speed up your metabolic rate and increases energy expenditure leading to weight loss. Drinking six to eight glasses of water should help flush out the toxins from your body.
• Exercise - This allows the body to burn more calories than body fat. A good exercise regimen will put the body metabolism into overdrive, making you burn more calories for as long as two hours after the workout.
