Not Another Pair of "Fat Jeans"!
Not Another Pair of "Fat Jeans"! |
Mary raced furiously toward the back door where she had always parked her car when coming to visit James. She felt the sting in her eyes and new the flood gates would soon be open, but Mary was not going to give him the satisfaction of seeing her cry.
Her clothes were tossed hastily into an overstuffed Heys bag she "borrowed" from James, her new ex-boyfriend. She knew he loved this bag, it was his favorite gym bag; one that his best friend Mark had given him last spring and that Mary herself had helped him choose.
After four of what Mary thought were pretty terrific years, blow after blow of powerful emotions were now beating down on the doors of Mary's heart...
...mostly as a result of one three letter word:
"FAT"
James had just dropped the 'other' F-bomb on Mary. You know... the one that obliterates hearts, crumbles trust, annihilates security and devastates attraction. If that wasn't bad enough, he had the nerves to throw in the unforgivable word; one I dare not repeat.
Even though this was one of the worse days of her life, Mary was determined not to let this horrible scene get the best of her. She chose to take a personal account of her life.
"When I look into the mirror each morning, who and what am I truly seeing? Of course, that jerk James earned his walking papers, how could he call me fat after four years... but what about the new pair of "FAT-jeans" I just bought to go with the other 3 pairs of "FAT-jeans" stuffed into the gym bag?"
Mary's jeans had been steadily going UP, UP, UP in sizes for over a year now and she wasn't even pregnant.
Painful break-ups like Mary's, because we or someone else feel we are "fat" is far from anything new.
Our feelings and emotions rule over us and eventually take over our relationships, even into the best relationships we ever had.
And although you, like Mary, never, ever deserve to be branded as "fat" by someone who means the world to you, or even by someone you don't know, the truthful question you have to answer regardless is...
If you could change anything about your health what would it be?
If the first thing that popped into your head was to lose weight, then let's begin that process now.
The time to fight the war on obesity is now. It's not one of the things you put on your to-do list that is constantly moved to the bottom because life gets in the way. Day by day the seconds are ticking off of our decreasing life cycle... and each day that you do not exist in the body you were designed for is a day spent in needless agony with feelings of low self-esteem and self-worth, ill-fitting and uncomfortable clothing, and even emotional pain of defeat.
So, what's the solution? It works faster than you think plus it's a bit easier to implement than you may believe.
And it's really fun, especially when you get some friends to do it with you.
The trick is to create a plan you enjoy; one that YOU own, not one that owns you.
And, the way to pull this off is by creating a 90-Day Challenge. It's just short enough so you won't quit, but long enough for you to create lasting results.
Face it: You're probably too busy and a bit too drained energy-wise to dive head-on into yet another deprivation diet, right? So why not try something new? Something unique?
Something that works and something that your family can do with you?
First: Get a journal. You'll need one throughout the 90-Day Challenge. Keep track of the foods you eat and the money you spend buying these items per week. Next write down a health goal you would like to achieve over the next 90 days. This can be anything from losing 30lbs to gaining 15lbs of lean muscle to shaving time off a marathon. Whatever your goal is make sure it is YOUR goal. This won't work if you are doing it to please others; it has to be what you want deep down. It has to be your WHY.
Before you start the challenge take before pictures, weigh and measure yourself. Keep track at least weekly in your journal. Measuring yourself is vital, many people will experience inches lost before the scale moves.
Day 1 increase your water consumption by at least 3-4 glasses. That's it. Do everything else the same. Easy, right?
Day 2 replace your breakfast (especially if you usually skip it) with a protein shake, or either an apple or a pear, 10 raw almonds or walnuts, and one cup of Greek non-fat yogurt sweetened with Stevia (an herbal sweetener you can get at most any Sprouts, Whole Foods or other similar markets) If you need a little more substance, add an extra scoop of protein to the shake or add a second apple.
This is just for a few days, so don't worry. But, I bet you'll find the increased energy so unbelievable you may decide to keep it in your routine forever.
Day 3 add a large salad to your dinner. You can have anything you want as long as it has ONE ingredient in it. Use extra virgin olive oil, apple cider vinegar and seasonings for dressing. Fresh veggies, small pieces of fruit, some nuts, spinach or any dark green leaves... it's all good. Eat whatever you desire AFTER you have devoured the entire salad.
That's it, that's all folks!
Do these 3 things for six days, so, for example
Day 4 you are adding an additional 3-4 glasses of water...
Day 5 you are having protein shakes for breakfast and lunch (along with a sensible dinner and snacks)...
Day 6 you are adding a large salad with lunch and dinner.
Now, listen this is HUGE, I need you to promise to take a day off EACH week to eat whatever you like. Trust me your body will thank you for it.
Look, everybody wants to be the hit at the party, to be the one people are whispering about... ("Hey, what's up with Mary, did she lose weight?"... "Has he been working out?"...."Wow, she's hot!"... )
